Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit this website or get in touch. It's written to be read, not to hide behind jargon. In short: this is a simple website, it collects very little, and none of it is sold or shared for marketing.

Who's responsible

This website is run by Calm Systems, a trading name of Andrew Spurr, a sole trader based in the North East of England. If you have any questions about your data, email andrew@calm-systems.co.uk.

What this site collects

The website itself has no contact forms, no accounts, and no marketing trackers. There are only two ways your information is handled:

• If you email me. When you use the contact address, I receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write. I use this only to reply to you and to help with your enquiry.
• Standard hosting data. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which — like all web hosts — automatically records basic technical information such as your approximate location (country level), device and browser type, and which pages were visited. This is used to keep the site running, secure, and performing well. It is not used to identify you personally or to track you across other websites.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and there's no consent banner because none is needed. Cloudflare may set a small number of strictly necessary cookies purely to keep the site secure and working. These don't track your activity for marketing.

Why I'm allowed to hold this data

Under UK data protection law, the lawful bases are straightforward: replying to your email is handled on the basis of your enquiry and my legitimate interest in responding to it; the basic hosting data is kept on the basis of my legitimate interest in running a secure, functioning website.

How long it's kept

Emails are kept for as long as is useful to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows, then cleared out periodically. Hosting logs are retained by Cloudflare for a short period under their own policies.

Who it's shared with

Your information is never sold. It isn't shared with anyone for marketing. The only third party involved is Cloudflare, which hosts the site — you can read how they handle data in their own privacy policy. If a genuine legal obligation ever required disclosure, that would be complied with, but that's the only exception.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what data I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it's used. To do any of these, just email andrew@calm-systems.co.uk and I'll sort it. If you're ever unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here with a new date at the top.
